You take the tops off the gel capsules and insert the bottom half into the little holes, pour some powdered herbs or vitamins over the empty capsules and spread evenly with the small leveling cardboard. You then adjust the Cap M Quik to drop. When it does, the filled bottom halves pop up and you then snap the tops on. When that is finished, you take the filled capsules out of the machine, dump off the excess powder and start again. It makes 50 filled capsules at a time.
