Sweet Birch Oil
(Betula lenta) 1/2 oz. amber bottle Birch buds were formerly used as a tonic in hair preparations. Birch tar is used in Europe for all types of chronic skin problems: psoriasis, eczema, etc. In Scandinavia the young birch leaflets and twigs are used in the sauna to tone the skin and promote the circulation. The sap is also tapped and drunk as a tonic. Buds, leaves and bark are used for “rheumatic and arthritic conditions, especially where kidney functions appear to need support, and urinary infections ” Muscular and arthritic pain and stiffness are relieved when a birch massage oil or liniment is rubbed over painful areas. Birch is known to help dull pain by delaying the "pain" messages from reaching your central nervous system. What your brain doesn't know won't hurt! Use Birch in foot baths and foot massage oils - it is tingling, pain-relieving, circulation-promoting, which soften calluses and soothes tired feet. Use Birch in hair conditioners to help prevent dandruff. Add Birch to your bath to ease pain.
